I went to pottery for the first time in over a month last night. Yes, I know. I'm a total slacker. I have a good excuse, though. I was buying a house, which is time consuming (to say the least), so most of my extracaricular activities had to be sacrificed. But I returned last night and had moderate success at the wheel. I threw three bowls, two out of recycled LBM that was easy to center and hard to shape. With it being so soft, the clay tends to collapse when I try to create a vase form. I have 3 to 4 lbs of LBM left, which I'll throw next week. I think I'll stick with LBM, though perhaps I'll try the orange version next (same clay, more iron), just to mix it up a bit.
I also glazed the rest of my bisqueware that has been sitting in the green room since March. I was relieved to see that they had not done another glaze firing while I was absent, so all of the pieces I glazed last night and last time I was there will be done together (hopefully. It's never a guarantee that all the glazed pieces will get into one firing).
So that's that. I'll be sure to snap some photos of the works in progress next week. I need to keep working on my form so that I can start throwing something other than mugs and bowls, like a teapot. I have an idea forming in my head for an elephant tea pot that I think would be awesome...
