Vases in Progress (and a small tragedy)

One of my goals as a potter is to make big, beautiful vases. At this point, that's really a lofty goal. I've made two vases so far, neither of which have turned out exactly how I wanted them to. This first one was intended to be bigger, but I started out with only two pounds of LBM, so it wasn't going to get any bigger.

This second one is another lemonade type of situation. It too was supposed to be bigger, seeing as I started with four pounds of Death Valley.

It's a bit weird, but I'm kind or weird myself, so what do you expect? I think (hope!) it will look a lot better glazed.

And, the tragedy:

We lost a handle today. The cup is way too dry at this point to have any hope of successfully reattaching it. So, the mugs that were supposed to be a set are now just a mug and a cup. Oh well! Such is life. ;-)
