Bowl in Progress

I generally don't have any specific idea what I am going to make when I sit down at my wheel. A somewhat abstract idea, such as "I'm going to make a bowl" or "I'm going to try a vase," but nothing very contrete. In the case of this piece, though, I was going for a large, wide bowl. I kind of accomplished it, as this bowl is bigger than any others I have made so far.

Death Valley, again. It's actually kind of wobbly, but I managed to flatten out the bottom a bit with trimming. Here's the top view:

I'm not really sure what it will be good for...most likely a salad bowl or a serving bowl. I'm thinking that I'll etch something cool into the rim.
