Back to School, Back to School...

To show my dad I'm not a fool...

Little bit of Billy Madison for your morning enjoyment ;-). So anyway. I did go to class last night after a week's hiatus for the holidays. I managed to throw two mugs (of which I did not get pictures because I'm lame). I threw one mug in basically the same shape during our last class in December. They're supposed to be a set, but they're not all exactly the same (surprise, surprise!). I'll throw one more so that there is an even number...

I also tried to throw using four pounds of the recycled Death Valley. I had forgotten how gritty it is. Dave's Porcelain is not gritty at all. I nearly threw a big, wide bowl, but the clay was so soft that I managed to screw it up when I was pretty close to being done. Oh well. The trick is not to get too attached to anything...I'll try again next week.

I'm contemplating going in again this week sometime to get pics of the mugs and throwing the last one. Next I'll be starting in on the bowl part of the full dish set, but the studio is currently out of Dave's Porcelain, so I may have to wait to start in on those. Maybe I'll try a new clay, or go back to Long Beach Medium. I really like the porcelain though, so we'll have to see.
