Anyhow. It's been actual years since I posted last. Mostly because I actually dropped out of my weekly class shortly before my son was born. That was in 2011. Two years ago nearly to the day, my amazing husband surprised me with re-enrollment as an anniversary present. I resumed my spot in the same Tuesday night class, and my teacher commented for several weeks about how I took it right back up, like a fish to water. I spent that first year making one pound pieces for my workmates.
Then I made a lot of flatware for my house in 2016. We have a plethora of mugs these days. And some nice, light weight plates.
And a few heavy bowls. My mom got some closed form eggs for Easter and a punched fruit bowl for her birthday.
I have a heavy pitcher that fits a double batch of pancake batter perfectly. I made a few jewelry and berry bowls. I've scrapped a lot of pieces along the way.
This cracked. Along with two others like it.
This year I want to focus on the details. I want to explore the possibilities and apply all of my crafty artistic talent to creating one of kind pieces of which I can be proud. I tend to be my own worse enemy, so it can be challenging for me to silence all of the doubtful voices in my head. Art is a process, and I'm trying to enjoy the process without stressing out about the flaws. Bob Ross told us that there are no mistakes. That's my mantra for 2017.
Currently, I'm working on a set of Sea Life mugs. It started with the star fish.
The finished starfish mug came out of the kiln on the day that we arrived at my MIL's house for Christmas. It has yet to be shipped to her....it's on my to do list.
A seahorse has been added to the collection, and last week I live-streamed the creation of a mermaid. It was challenging, but a lot of fun. Before I knew it, it was time to leave. Needless to say, I am looking forward to next Tuesday already.
So, thanks for reading! Stay tuned for real...there are a lot of photos from the last two years yet to be published.
