And Very Small Rocks!

I did not get any pictures in class again this week. I know, I'm lame. Whatever. I threw four espresso cups though, which I hope will turn out pretty cool. I started with one pound of clay each, intending to make the cup part of two goblets. Turns out that it is pretty hard to wedge one pound of clay, let alone throw it. I managed, though, and soon realized that one pound is too small for the size goblet I was going for (think wine glasses...). So I went with espresso cups instead. I'll try the goblet endeavor again next week.

I spent most of class watching Cynthia throw a teapot off the hump. I think I might try throwing off the hump next week too (perhaps my goblets can come off the hump...). I also glazed the spiral plate and the pie dish. I hope the plate turns out...I piped tenmoku into the spirals, but the iron stained the areas around them. So, I smeared iron over the whole of the plate and covered the whole thing in clear. There was one side of the rim that did not want to hold onto any of the glazes, so I'm skeptical. I hope it turns out okay...I'm not holding my breath though. I used stoney white on the pie plate. Kind of boring, but it's a pie plate, so what can you do?

Hopefully the kiln will have been (glaze) fired today like Cynthia said, so that I can go and collect all my goodies on Saturday!
